Keith Bontrager began building road wheels with a firm belief that each wheel must be designed according to its specific function. Front wheels must be light and aerodynamic, and demand a taller rim profile with fewer spokes. Rear wheels must be laterally stiff, and since they're hidden from the wind, benefit from a stouter rim extrusion with an offset spoke bed. Does this approach require more time and effort? Of course. But it has also helped us create the best high-performance wheelsystems on the road.

Race X-Lite Carbon
At the 2002 US Pro Road Racing Championships, 3 of the top 5 finishers were on Race X Lite Carbons. Road Racers and triathletes alike appreciate their tall, low-spoke-count design, which has been wind tunnel proven to have outstanding aerodynamics.
Rims are a very slippery 44mm tall and made using Tour de France tested, OCLV technology 16 hole front and rear, utilizing PST and 26mm spacing results in the lightest possible rim design; special glass embedded braking surface for added durability
Dura-Ace carbon brake pads are recommended and included
Hubs are Swiss made, fully serviceable, triple sealed, cartridge bearing design; system uses aluminum axles and a star ratchet system in the rear
Torque sharing, oversized, rear hub shell more effectively transfers torque to left side resulting in less wind up and a longer lasting wheel
Spokes are butted and bladed stainless steel, as light as a DT Revolution, but 20% stronger; J-bend type spoke design allows for replacement with any standard 14g spoke in a pinch

Race X-Lite
The Race X Lites feature an excellent combination of aerodynamics, stiffness, and an even lighter weight for 2003. The new X Lites undergo a machining process that removes weight from the spoke beds, while the unique Radial Ridge™ maintains radial rigidity and fatigue life. These wheels are designed to endure the rigors and special demands of the pro peloton.
Rims are welded for superior strength and machined for smooth braking – 20 hole, 23mm semi-aero front rim provides excellent aerodynamics (especially with 23c tire), while the 24 hole, 21mm rear rim with OSB improves lateral rigidity and prolongs wheel life
Hubs are Swiss made, fully serviceable, triple sealed, cartridge bearing design; system uses aluminum axles and a star ratchet system in the rear; torque sharing, oversized, rear hub more effectively transfers torque to left side reducing wind-up and makes for a longer lasting wheel
Aluminum freehub body reduces weight and should be used with aluminum bodied cassettes

Race X-Lite Aero
New for 2003, this aerodynamic wheel has proven to be a real performer. Fast. Strong. Stiff. All the features of the X Lite Carbon — with an aluminum rim. Race X Lite Aero is destined to be our most popular wheel for triathletes and road racers alike.
Rims are made of 6061 T6 aluminum alloy, a slippery 30mm tall, welded for strength, and CNC machined for a smooth braking surface
Same hubs as used on our Race X Lite Carbon wheelset. Swiss-made, fully serviceable, triple sealed, cartridge-bearing design; torque sharing, oversized, rear hub shell more effectively transfers torque to left side
Spokes are 14G bladed stainless steel. Steel provides the best ride, strength, weight, and ease of serviceability. J-bend type spoke design allows for replacement with any standard 14G spoke in a pinch

Race X Lite TT
The wheelset to have when racing against the clock. This new ultra-high-performance wheelset was designed specifically for time trials and triathlons. The Race X Lite TT carbon disc rear is incredibly light, incredibly aerodynamic, and built to exacting tolerances to be round and true.
Front wheel is super-fast pro race proven Race X Lite Carbon
Rear disc wheel is Shimano compatible but can be modified to accept Campagnolo 10. 
Swiss-made cartridge-bearing hubs

Race Lite
Brethren to the Race X Lite, this wheelset is slightly stiffer and a bit heavier due to the straight gauge bladed spokes and steel axle rear hub. Every bit as aerodynamic, this wheel is an all-around solid performer for both the pro racer and the weekend warrior.
Rims are welded for superior strength and machined for smooth braking – 20 hole, 23mm semi-aero front rim provides excellent aerodynamics (especially with 23c tire), while the 24 hole, 21mm rear rim with OSB improves lateral rigidity and prolongs wheel life
Rear hub is Swiss made, fully serviceable, with a combination of cartridge and needle bearings; torque sharing design improves wheel stiffness and wheel life, while steel freehub body will not get marred up with use
Front hub has large cartridge bearings and an oversized aluminum axle
Spokes are 14G bladed stainless steel; J-bend type allows for replacement with any standard 14G spoke in a pinch

Race Lite Power-Tap
Power output, heart rate, and speed. All the pieces to take your performance to another level. Bontrager has teamed with CycleOps to develop a training aid that combines all the information and feedback of the Power-Tap system with a high-performance wheelset.
Rear wheel is similar to the Race X Lite Aero wheel, using a 30mm tall aero rim built with 16 bladed spokes
The hub is Shimano compatible with hub shell specifically designed by Bontrager

This budget-priced wheel has all the design features of the other Bontrager road wheels. Paired Spoke Technology, Offset Spoke Bed rim, and torque sharing super-stiff rear hub design. Durable and fast, Select is perfect for anyone looking for some additional performance or as a replacement for tired old wheels.
Rims are welded for superior strength and machined for smooth braking; semi-aero front rim provides excellent aerodynamics, while rear rim with OSB improves lateral rigidity, prolongs wheel life – this wheel is extremely comfortable for those long century rides
Hubset utilizes forged shell with hardened, ground and polished cones and races, and Cro-moly axles; hubs are fully serviceable and replacement parts are available at your local Bontrager dealer
Spokes are 14/15G butted stainless steel with brass locking nipples; J-bend type allows for replacement with any standard 14G spoke in a pinch
